Six months with PostgreSQL, after years of SQL Server
Looking beyond the familiar database stack, and a short video on how PostgreSQL feels alongside SQL Server.
Since the day I started working with databases, MSSQL was the DBMS I came across the most. Which made sense, Microsoft pretty much runs a monopoly with its PCs, networking capabilities and programming environment. I never felt the need to look anywhere else. But maybe I was too close to see the whole picture, as there were other worthy contenders as well.
For the past 6 months, I have been getting my hands dirty working with PostreSQL, and the following is pretty much how I feel when it comes to stacking it up against the Ol’ MSSQL.
The list of “little differences” is much longer to fit here. I’ll get into that in more details, maybe at a later time.
